Details of my research
Dr Singh’s research is in the area of federalism, nationalism and development, with a focus on India. He is particularity interested in tracking theoretical and empirical work that deals with capitalism and sustainable development in so-called Third World countries. He is also interested in sustainability and critical evaluation of the competing paradigms of development.
Pritam has published extensively in on the political and economic development in India and the Punjab region. He has focussed on development, secularism and religious revivalism; and nationalism, development and human rights. He approaches these issues from the viewpoint of the relationship between globalisation and changing identities. He has co-edited a book called Punjabi Identity in a Global Context (OUP, 1999).
His forthcoming book on federalism will bring together ground breaking methodological approaches and field level data to add new dimensions to the understanding of federalism, particularly in India.
Pritam has been elected as a Research Associate by the Department of International Development (Queen Elizabeth House), University of Oxford.
