Prior to starting at Oxford Brookes I took two gap years. I set up and ran a youth work department linking local churches, schools and youth work organisation, whilst also travelling America and spending time as a youth worker in Manchester.

The Religion and Theology course interested me because of the links between religions and how they relate to culture around them, especially given the recent increase in religious fundamentalism and terrorism.

I chose to come to Brookes because I liked the range of subjects offered and the variety of teaching styles used. The modular system and the flexibility of the course was also something that attracted me; I could tailor the degree to suit my interests.

The staff at the university are very supportive towards me. I have often met with my lecturers for help or to discuss a topic in more detail. Lecturers always give feedback on assignments and suggest ways for future improvement. As students we also discuss different parts of our studies that we enjoy or struggle with.

At the Harcourt Hill campus the library is really good, there is always room to work and the books are awesome. Overall, the best thing about Brookes are the people; everyone is friendly, from the staff to the students, there is such a great atmosphere.

Oxford is a beautiful city and it is a really good place to study. I like the mixture of things to do such as going to clubs and bars, the parks, ice skating or even shopping, the list goes on.

Currently I am in the last year of my degree, in the future I think I will do a PGCE in Secondary Education and move into teaching. Or possibly work for the United Nations regarding interfaith community relations.
