Research interests

Climate change; urban energy modelling using geographical information systems; carbon emission reduction planning; incorporation of low carbon technologies in buildings.

Developing the first open-source, online, multilingual encyclopaedia on sustainable buildings - funded by Asia IT&C programme of the European Commission. He is also involved in further development and market assessment of DECoRuM, a new GIS-based domestic energy, carbon-counting and carbon-reduction model.

Dr Gupta is also Co-Director of the Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development: Architecture Unit.
