Growing research strength at Brookes

Oxford Brookes has developed significant research strengths across the university and was rated as internationally excellent across a broad range of subjects in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

More than three quarters of Brookes research has been internationally recognised. History was once again the University's highest-rated department and is in the top quartile nationally. Along with English and Art and Design, over 90% of its research is internationally recognised.

The University has also been careful to nurture emerging research strengths, and the international standing achieved by Computing, Business, Law, Art and Design, Education and subjects allied to Health, demonstrates significant progress since 2001.

History has the highest proportion of its research rated world-class, but Computer Science, Art and Design, History of Art and Music all achieved strong world-class outputs.

Brookes has improved on its 2001 performance moving up 13 places in the THE league tables.
