Santander research award scheme 2012/2013

Oxford Brookes University receives funding from Santander as part of its Universities Network Countries Scholarship Scheme. The Santander Universities is a global network of higher education institutions supported by the Santander Bank.

The Santander Universities Network countries are: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Germany, USA, Spain, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Russia, Singapore and Uruguay.

Research scholarships

Santander will be awarding three research scholarships of £5,000 each for academic members of staff to fund research collaborations with institutions in the Santander network. Applications from groups will be welcomed.

The activities for which the scholarship is requested should be directly linked to the applicant's current and future plans and make a positive contribution to their Faculty and/or the University. Evidence that the collaborating institution will support the visit should be provided.

Research and Partnership Travel award scheme

These awards will fund staff to undertake research or development of a partnership in one of the Santander Universities Network countries. Each award will be for a maximum of £2,500, with a minimum of four awards.

When applying for partnership development, the award should focus on existing relationships, such as a teaching and learning or research partnership, and which can demonstrate evidence that it could be developed into a more sustainable departmental or University-wide partnership with the potential to become multi-level.

Applications for research funding should focus on existing projects or development research work with institutions in the Santander Universities network.

Please note (for both award schemes):

  • Anyone who receives funding must agree to the release of their Brookes contact details to Santander.
  • Successful applicants will also be required to fill in a summary report on the outcome of their award. This summary will be used for reporting to Santander on the funding allocations and for general promotion of the scheme.
  • Funding will be transferred via IDT to your School/Directorate cost centre at the earliest in August (period 1).
