During April 2003 39 UK Learning Technologists and Academics took
part in a week of visits to universities in the Netherlands. The
exchange, organised by ALT and SURF, began with a visit to the University
of Twente and contained a one-day conference in Amsterdam. During
the majority of the time away the exchange participants were split
into two groups, A and B, which looked respectively at VLEs and
Standards.
- Group A visited: Hanzehogeschool Groningen, Van Hall Institute,
Leeuwarden, where we met with other representatives from institutions
in Leeuwarden, Wageningen University, and Utrecht University,
where we met with other representatives from institutions in Utrecht.
- Group B visited the Open University of the Netherlands in Heerlen,
Leiden University Medical Center and the University of Amsterdam.
The one-day conference in Amsterdam
featured keynotes from Anneke Eurelings, Director of the Transnational
University of Limburg, and Grainne Conole, Professor of Educational
Innovation in Post-compulsory Education at the University of Southampton.
There was a wide selection of workshops and plenty of time to network.
Information on the conference is available on the conference
page of this web site.
