Materials adapted
from the Excellence
in Cities National Development Programme for Gifted and
Talented Co-ordinators. The EiC initiative is aimed at schools
in areas of economic, social and educational deprivation,
but much of the information and recommended good practice
for gifted and talented provision is relevant to all schools. |

The materials have been written with a focus
on secondary schools, but have cross-phase relevance and application.
They give an overview of issues in identifying and providing for
able, gifted and talented pupils
A series of briefing documents, Launchpads
, on specific aspects of gifted and talented education, for example,
‘Thinking skills’ or ‘Mentoring’. Many of
these are also relevant to raising achievement for all pupils. Versions
of the Launchpads have been developed
for both the primary and secondary phases.
