Aims of the forum
The forum seeks to:
- promote research into inter-agency work e.g. what principles
underpin successful interagency work, what counts as 'success',
how might inter-agency work be evaluated
- support practitioners and policy makers working in inter-agency
settings through e.g. an open forum, seminars, developing
accredited courses for those working in inter-agency settings
- disseminate research findings and good practice
Background
- why now?
Over the last decade there has been a rapid
growth in inter-agency working in a wide range of contexts and disciplines.
Since 1997, this approach has received added impetus in relation to
children and young people, from New Labour's endorsement of 'joined
up thinking' as an important means to advance the process of inclusion.
Among practioners and policymakers working in a range of inter-agency
initiatives, such as Connexions, Sure Start, the Children's Fund and
the Children and Young People's Unit, there is an increasing desire
to understand the principles and methods which underpin effective
inter-agency working.
