Analogic reasoning
is the central cognitive process of intellectual functioning
within academic, vocational and educational contexts. To succeed
in such endeavours, analogic reasoning must be fluid or creative.
Previous studies of intelligence as a neural system have only
considered analogic reasoning in a restricted sense. A functional
magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study investigated the neural
correlates associated with undertaking fluid letter string analogy
tasks with high-intelligent adults. The next stage is to extend
the study with high-intelligent adolescents. |

The main objective of this literature
search (Geake & Dodson, in preparation), informed by original
fMRI experiments (Geake, 2002; Hansen et al, 2003), is to develop
a model of high-functioning creative intelligence which is supported
by evidence from the cognitive neurosciences, and which might
inform pedagogy and curriculum (Shore et al, 2003). |
