Validation and Accreditation

On behalf of Oxford Brookes University, the Westminster Institute of Education offers validation and accreditation services to organisations running or wishing to run their own credit or award bearing training and professional development programmes.

Validation and Accreditation

As an institution with award bearing powers, the
University, through its Institute of Education, can offer
organisations the opportunity of designing training and
professional development programmes attracting
higher education level credit or a University award.

University staff work with organisations on programme
design to ensure that programmes meet accreditation
or validation criteria.

Case studies:

  • The Peers Early Years Partnership (PEEP)
worked with an Early Years Lecturer to
    credit rate their training programme

  • The University validates programmes
run by the Oxford School of Coaching
    and Mentoring, whose participants can
then progress to a full Oxford Brookes
    MA award

  • The University supported and arranged
the validation of a national programme for
Subject Learning Coaches run by the
Centre for Excellence in Leadership for
staff working in the post 16 sector

‘You feel that there’s a true spirit of collaboration with Brookes, through mutual respect. PEEP (Peers EarlyYears Partnership) benefits from learning about the academic expectations for practitioners wanting accreditation. And the university gains from partnership with a lively project at an exciting time, when practitioners from all over the UK are asking for academic recognition for their PEEP work. It helps us move forward in our own learning and understanding about the potential of our work in supporting families with their children’s early learning.’

Alison Street, Peers EarlyYears Partnership, Oxford
