Primary and Secondary Schooling

Led by Professor Simon Catling, research activity in this area focuses on the development of policy and practice in relation to curriculum design; pedagogy; formative and summative assessment; primary geography; ICT and e-learning; science, mathematics, religious and citizenship education; gifted and talented education ; and creativity in learning. Two particular interests are pupils’ understanding of curriculum and teachers’ professional development.

Current projects in this area include a three-year Creative Partnerships National External Evaluation Audit Project funded by the Arts Council England, and Bright Ideas in Science.
