This glossary of definitions relevant to glaciology and glacial geomorphology has been constructed and developed by students as part of M02625: Glaciers and Glaciation, at Oxford Brookes University. This is designed to allow students to develop skills of producing PowerPoint overheads summarising a theme, issue, concept or feature related to the module. The students were allowed to use only four slides maximum, and were required to include a definition, explanation and example of the term, as well as provide an appropriate reference to further discussion of the term. Other than that, students were left free to design the presentation as they wished.

Images for the presentations have been obtained by the students from various sources. These may not have been adequately referenced. If you see an image that you have produced on these pages, please contact me and I will ensure that a full acknowledgement is added.

As is usual with such exercises, some presentations are better than others, and all information should be treated with caution: the explanation may not be quite accurate!

Select a term to view the relevant PowerPoint presentation from the list below. Please note that some of these files may be quite large and take a while to download. Presentations marked with an asterisk are suggested to be examples of good practise.
