If you are a qualified international lawyer in certain jurisdictions outside England and Wales, if you are a Scottish solicitor, or UK Barrister, the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT) enables you to qualify to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales.
OXILP offers the test itself, plus short optional preparatory courses, including distance learning. The Institute's QLTT course is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
There are many reasons for wishing to undertake the QLTT:
- to practise in the English and Welsh legal sector
- to maximise your appeal to a client or to an employer
- to increase your in-house expertise
You may wish to take advantage of the benefits of being able to practise in English common law countries including Hong Kong, India and Bermuda. Whatever your reason, when undertaking the QLTT with OXILP, you have the reassurance of knowing that you are receiving the best in legal education.
We offer the QLTT in:
- India in partnership with ALSR.

NEW - Qualified Lawyer Transfer Scheme (QLTS)
The SRA board has now approved proposals for a qualified lawyers transfer scheme (QLTS), which will replace the current regulations. This means that the form and content of the QLTT will change considerably.
Although the schedule for this is not confirmed, the SRA plan to implement this between September 2010 and January 2011
What does this mean in practice to Lawyers who wish to qualify as a UK Solicitor?
More details may be seen on the SRA website at www.sra.org.uk
