The Centre for European Research at Oxford Brookes University was established in 1995 in order to promote research and scholarship in the area of European Studies.
The Centre's work is multidisciplinary and approaches the study of Europe through social, political, economic, linguistic, cultural and literary aspects of Europe's modern history. The notion of Europe thus is understood in the broadest sense, and research includes work on aspects of individual European countries and on Europe as a whole.
There are over 50 full members of the Centre for European Research and a large number of associate members.
Members are drawn from disciplines which offer a number of MA and MBA programmes at Oxford Brookes, including the MA in European Studies, the MA in Culture and Society in Modern Europe, and the MA in Culture and Society in Modern France and/or Germany.
The Centre for European Research issues a regular bulletin with details of its seminars, workshops, conferences and occasional papers.
