Computer Services Centre
The Computer Services Centre is a service to assist you in meeting your IT needs at Brookes and fits well with the range of services provided by the IT Service Desks on each campus.
The Centre is for the use of all staff and students. Located in the Abercrombie foyer at Gipsy Lane it offers a range of services and goods including:
- Support for HallNet internet access in study bedrooms. (Please read the HallNet Mini Guide first before asking for help at the Centre. It may well have the answer to your query!)
- A PC Clinic which is run to support students and staff with PC/laptop problems.
- Maintenance of the computers and printers in the computer pooled rooms. Faults can be noted on a form in the room, or emailed to pc_faults@brookes.ac.uk. (Please always supply the room number, eg. FHG06, and the number of the computer at fault, eg. B1234.)
- Computer consumables such as USB sticks, network cables, CDs, DVDs, printer cartridges, laptop cases, headsets and external hard drives. We also sell printer paper and general stationery at excellent prices.
- Toshiba laptop computers which can be
hired at excellent
rates.
- Colour print jobs from A4 up to A1
size and A4 transparencies sent to our central colour
printers and which can be collected from the Centre when they are ready. Any work which
is printed during the normal Centre opening hours will be
left in the pigeon holes for you to collect later.
- Sending and receiving of faxes.
- Applications for IT courses and a selection of training workbooks.
- Crediting of charge accounts for printing.
At Wheatley and Harcourt Hill,
the Computer Services IT Service Desks provide a wide range of support services and work closely with the Centre team. In addition, the libraries there distribute local colour printing (A4/A3 & transparencies), credit charge accounts, and sell USB sticks and
CDs.
