How to join ECDL - Members of the public

Step one - Get prepared

Read the information on this web site. In particular:

  • The ECDL Syllabus and Study and Tests, so you know what's involved.
  • Read the ECDL@brookes guide so that you know how to access the training.
  • Dates & times. Check your availability. Drop-ins take place on Monday afternoons and Wednesday or Thursday mornings.
  • Note: The dropin sessions take place at The Media Centre, Oxford Brookes University, Headington Campus, Gipsy Lane, Oxford, OX3 0BP. There is no parking available on campus, and parking in the surrounding area is severly restricted.

Step two - Get signed up

  • Download and print the Application form.
  • Complete the form and return. The course fee is £375.

Step three - Get started

  • Download and print the ECDL@brookes guide. It tells you how to setup and access the ECDL online training.
  • Once your application has been processed you will receive your sign-on name and password.

That's it!

You can now access the online training, come to the ECDL drop-ins and prepare for tests. Good luck!

How long do I have?

  • After formal sign up ECDL is non-refundable as software licences will have been purchased for you.
  • You are expected to complete your ECDL within one year. If you need more time, there will be a further £50 charge.
  • You are expected to complete one practice test within three months of formal sign-up in order to maintain your registration with BCS.
