Auto-reply and redirect
We've made some changes...
This page used to allow staff to set
up an automatic reply to their mail account and/or redirect
their mail to another account;
see picture below:

What's changed?
- The auto-reply facility has now been included in WebMail,
the University's web-based email program.
- The redirect facility is now also included in WebMail.
- Both facilities are now available to students (previously
available only to staff).
Why have you made these changes?
We received many requests for a facility in WebMail that allows users to filter out "spam" (junk) email. We've installed this facility, but the disadvantage is that it is not compatible with the previous auto-reply and redirect web page. We are therefore using the auto-reply and redirect facility that is built into WebMail.
What do I do now?
I
set up an auto-reply or redirect using the previous web page,
I
want to cancel or change it
Any auto-reply or redirect set up using the previous web page must be deleted manually. Please email postmaster@brookes.ac.uk who will arrange this for you.
The next time you need to set up an auto-reply or redirect, please use the facilities in WebMail; full instructions are below:
I want to set up a new auto-reply or redirect
Login to WebMail, and click on the Filters link. See the instructions in the documents below:
| How to set up an auto-reply message for Brookes email | ||
| How to redirect Brookes email to another email account |
Other new features in WebMail
In addition to the auto-reply and redirect facility being moved to WebMail, you can also filter your spam; thus it should make it easier to use as you'll be able to manage your mail more effectively. For details of the new features in WebMail, please see the WebMail help page.
