Microsoft Campus Agreement 3.4 (staff only)
The Microsoft Campus Agreement (CA) provides staff at Brookes with an annual site-licence for a selection of Microsoft's most popular software. Unlike the Select 6 agreement, the software is rented rather than purchased outright.
- How does it work?
IT staff are allowed to install any of the software listed below on to your computer at work. IT staff must keep a record of the CA software that has been installed and schools and departments will need to be able to produce this information if asked to do so.
- Which products are included?
- MS Office Standard and Professional for PC & Macintosh
- MS Publisher
- MS Windows 32-bit operating system - upgrade only
- OneNote
- MS Project
-
MS Visual Studio.NET
- Can I use the software at home?
Yes, if you are a member of staff who works more than 200 hours per annum and you need to use the software on your home computer for University work.
- Where can I get it installed?
For use on a Brookes computer:
Contact your IT Support staff.
For home use:
Your school/dept may have its own policy for installation. Please check with your usual IT support staff first.Otherwise, Computer Services can install the software for you. You will need to pay a £10 fee per item and have completed a Work at Home Acceptance Form. Please note, we do not have facilities to accept cash at Wheatley and Harcourt Hill.
Headington: Computer Services Centre (Abercrmbie ground floor) - cash/charge code.
Harcourt Hill: Service Desk (GLG/08) - charge code only
Wheatley: Service Desk (Library) - charge code only
We'll do our best to install the software as soon as we can but it may not happen the same day if there are other waiting jobs.
Alternatively you can purchase your own copy from the Ultimate Steal. A Microsoft sponsored promotion for Windows 7 Home Premium and Office Ultimate 2007 which is now available for staff as well as students.
- Which version can I use?
You can use any version: however, you must not mix different versions i.e. you can't run Excel 2007 with Office 2003.
- Why is it necessary to keep a record
of the installed software?
The software is not ours to keep. If the University does not renew the licence for any of the software, IT staff will need to locate and remove it.
- Is there an alternative to CA?
The Select scheme is available and caters for any staff who wish to purchase the software outright or purchase any software not available in the CA deal.
- Can I purchase the software for my
personal use?
Staff and students can purchase their own copies of the software at reduced prices. See the Software Licensing page for the various options.
- Any questions?
Please channel your queries through your usual IT staff or Dave Nolan in Computer Services.
