Brookes eduroam wireless setup for Linux on the Eee PC

This page is a draft and only includes minimal setup information.

The default installed Xandros distribution does not support enterprise level encryption. You can update the wpa_supplicant binary files, upgrade the madwifi drivers and manually configure the system for accessing WPA/WPA2 enterprise networks. Comprehensive instructions are available on the Eeeuser wiki and additional configuration suggestions in the Eeeuser forums.

However, in testing this does not seem to be currently compatible with eduroam@brookes.

If you install an alternative Eee-specific Linux distribution, such as eeeXubuntu the updated drivers, tweaks and configurations are included in the install and it seems to be compatible with eduroam@brookes. In addition to installing this type of distribution on to the built-in EeePC SSD you can also install it on a bootable USB key or SD card so you can test it without removing the default Xandros system.

You will need to obtain the PEM root certificate before you attempt to join eduroam@brookes.
