Brookes eduroam wireless setup for mobiles and PDA devices
Please note: We are currently testing how various mobile systems will work with eduroam@brookes. We cannot offer support for these at present.
You will need a device that supports WPA or WPA2 Enterprise to ensure the security of the connection. Pre-shared key (PSK or Personal) connections will not work.
You may need to download the root certificate used for eduroam@brookes for use with the connection.
Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
Apple have released iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch updated software (beginning with version 2.0) that supports WPA/WPA2 Enterprise and which is able to connect to eduroam@brookes. For iOS devices running version 3 or above no setup is necessary - you just need to enter your logon details. Version 2 devices can download and install a configuration file to the device (you will need to do this from an external network connection) to perform the necessary setup.
Users of updated, or newer, Apple devices can perform the following steps to connect their device:
- Select to join the 'eduroam' wireless network.
- Enter your eduroam@brookes username and password when prompted.
- Accept the security certificate that is offered for 'eduroam.brookes.ac.uk'
If you wish to remove the eduroam@brookes profile you can do so through Settings -> General -> Profile (eduroam@brookes)
Nokia E61i, Nokia E71 & Nokia E90
The Brookes Telecoms team have produced a draft setup guide for some Nokia mobile phones.
Android
Select to join the 'eduroam' wireless network.
Ensure EAP method is set to PEAP and Phase 2 authentication is set to MSCHAPV2. Enter your eduroam@brookes username and password.
Click Connect and your device should then connect to eduroam@brookes
