The two ticks system

Positive about disabled people - the two ticks logo

Oxford Brookes supports the ‘Positive about Disabled People’ scheme (the two ticks system)

This means:

  • We are committed to encouraging disabled people to apply for jobs.
  • We are expected to put the symbol on all job advertisements in the press or at the Jobcentre, as well as internal vacancy advertisements and job application forms.
  • We guarantee to interview all applicants with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and to consider them on their abilities.
  • We are committed to asking disabled members of staff at least once a year what we can do to make sure they can develop and use their abilities at work.
  • We will make every effort when staff become disabled to make sure they stay in employment.
  • We will take action to ensure that key members of staff develop the awareness of disability needed to make our commitments.
  • We will, on an annual basis review these commitments and what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let all our staff know about progress and future plans.
  • We can use the symbol on letterheads and stationery; internal magazines and newsletters; on signs in personnel departments, reception areas, interview rooms and at career exhibitions.
