Oxford Brookes is committed to equality and diversity. Academic year 2010-2011 has been a year of great change for equality work. Following the introduction of the Equality Act 2010 in October 2010 we were anticipating further requirements in April 2011 under the Public Sector Equality Duty. In reality the government launched a further period of consultation over simplifying and reducing the new duties. The proposed date for publication of equality data is now December 2011. Uncertainty over the statutory requirements delayed the production of our Diversity report 2010 and a decision over the future of our Single Equality Scheme and action plan.
