Developing Writing

The quality of students' writing is of central concern to many teachers in Higher Education. Tutors are having to respond to not only to the content of students' writing in their disciplines, but to the difficulties students experience with the forms of writing required of them, and the structure and accuracy of their written work. This series of five Student Guides and the linked Tutor Manual has been devised to offer a coherent and practical approach to developing writing skills. The Guides are designed to be user-friendly to students working on their own, or with the guidance of a tutor. Each Student Guide offers a consistent and structured approach to the process of writing and easy to follow guidance to writing in the main forms required in HE. The Tutor Manual complements the series, and invites tutors to take a strategic look at the writing tasks they are set, as well as offering practical suggestions for developing and adapting the materials in the Student Guides.
