Role-related skills

Higher Education organisations are employers of possibly the most diverse workforces in the employment landscape. The role related skills honeycomb helps name and visualise the skills areas or clusters of work related activity that make up the roles that Brookes staff occupy.

Each hexagon expresses a theme or cluster of related activities and we have called these Role Related skills.

A usual way of working with these clusters is to look for the group that you think pretty much covers your role, or accounts for the type of role you have.

A more novel and productive way of looking at Role Related skills is to work out how many of them actually fit into your role. If you analyse your role from the point of view of all the strands or skills sets that it contains or uses, you will see how rich it is and how it might already contain the beginnings and foundations of all sorts of other roles.
