Digby Warren

Digby Warren has been working in the field of higher education development for 13 years, previously in South Africa (University of Cape Town) and in the UK since January 2001. His chief area of experience is curriculum development and associated teaching and learning development.

He has facilitated and conducted work around the design, implementation and evaluation of courses in arts, humanities and social-science disciplines, and acted as curriculum consultant for interdisciplinary courses in health education and a human-rights programme. His research interests are student learning and curriculum development, about which he has produced a number of papers and published articles.

As part of his current job in the Centre for Academic Professional Development (CAPD) at London Metropolitan University, he is an assistant to the Director of Learning, Teaching and Student Affairs at that institution. Related duties include teaching on CAPD's Masters programme in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, organising university-wide workshops and facilitating development activities within academic departments. He is also founder editor of an in-house academic journal aimed at disseminating staff research in teaching, learning and curriculum practice.

Presently, he is a member of Equal Opportunities sub-committee of the UK Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ILTHE). During 2003 he also participated in the ILTHE/LTSN/HESDA national-level task group on widening participation that was established to propose guidelines on that matter for the new Higher Education Academy.
