Mike Davidson
Mike Davidson is a Staff Development Officer at the University of Nottingham where he leads the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. He led an Academic Development Unit at Rhodes University, South Africa, before taking up his present position. There his interests revolved around developing teaching and learning approaches in support of non-traditional learners, entering university from diverse backgrounds. Diversity and access interests are central to his work and understanding of Higher Education. Before working as an Academic Developer, he was a teacher trainer for eleven years, in a cross-cultural context. He is currently an Affiliate Academic in the Department of Education and Professional Development, at University College London. He is also interested in inter-disciplinary learning and teaching in Higher Education, especially from the perspective of critical theory. He has travelled quite extensively, and presented at conferences in Australia, the USA, South Africa and the UK, whilst being a member of staff development organisations in each of those countries.
