Putting the pleasure back into academic writing

  • Dates negotiable

Academic work has always included teaching, research and administration. Prioritising research has become a national (and international) agenda but has become increasingly difficult to do with the growing number of students and declining resources. Often research data that has been collected gathers dust and never reaches publication. This session examines impediments to writing and how we can work to overcome these, it looks at some basic writing strategies and how we can build support for our writing.

This workshop will be of interest to:

  • New academics who need to develop balanced academic work habits
  • Experienced academics who have research waiting to be written up
  • Women academics who, as a group, have been shown to prioritise their teaching over their research
