Introduction to recruitment and selection

  • Dates negotiable

This workshop highlights the need for a systematic approach to recruitment and selection. Aspects covered include drawing up a job description, writing a person specification, and complying with equal opportunity legislation.

Particular attention is given to the core skills required in a selection interview such as planning, avoiding potential bias/distortion, establishing rapport, questioning, listening and evaluation.

By the end of the workshop delegates will be able to:

  • Check that their recruitment and selection processes comply with relevant legislation.
  • Develop appropriate selection and short listing criteria.
  • Apply effective interviewing techniques to assess candidates.
  • Prepare for a two way interview to ensure they are attractive to the right candidate.
  • Gain insight from interview practice.

This workshop would benefit those in smaller organisations who are required to recruit staff but do not have dedicated in-house support or Human Resources specialists.

For organisations which have established recruitment and selection policies, procedures and documentation we can adapt this generic workshop to run an in-house version.
