Brussels For art lovers, Brussels is the home of the Art Nouveau and the Horta Museum and the Hannon Residence provide great examples of this art. There is also the Belgian Comic Strip Centre, Magritte's house and the excellent Modern Art Museum. Brussels' rich history and Flemish and Walloon influences are reflected in the city's buildings and architecture. The magnificent Grand Place is a melting pot of architectural styles with Gothic and Baroque influences. The Town Hall is the centrepiece of the Grand Place and is spectacularly lit at night. A visit to Brussels would not be complete without sampling the local fare. Brussels is of course famous for its beer, and with over 500 varieties to choose from, you are spoilt for choice. The cuisine is also first class and the city offers some of the best restaurants in Europe. A good starting place is L'ilot-sacre, a street crammed full of restaurants, just off the Grand Place, where you can eat the national dish - moules et frites (mussels and fries). Belgium is universally known for its chocolate, and chocoholics can even visit a chocolate museum! Brussels
