About OCSLD

The Oxford Centre for Staff and Learning Development is an international centre of excellence for the development of teaching and learning in higher education through its work with teaching staff, trainers, managers and support staff.

OCSLD was formed in 1989 at Oxford Brookes University. The centre is responsible for educational and virtually all staff development for Oxford Brookes University and conducts a variety of external activities:

• In addition to our in-house staff and educational developers, OCSLD manages a national network of specialist consultants. Our consultants offer courses for staff in further and higher education specialising in teaching, learning and assessment, e-learning, staff development and management development. Each year we run 100-200 different courses on 40 different topics for universities in the UK and overseas.
• We conduct funded research and development in the field of teaching and learning
• We publish a range of books on learning, teaching and assessment
• We host the annual Improving Student Learning conference
