Management and leadership development

2011 saw a transfer of qualifications from the old National Qualifications Framework (NQF) to the new Qualifications and Credits Framework (QCF).  All qualifications on the new credits based framework became Awards, Certificates and Diplomas in this move.

Since 2011 accreditation for the CMLP has been ILM QCF NVQ at levels 3 and 5. Our Level 3 NVQ programme has become ILM NVQ level 3 Certificate in Management and our level 5 NVQ programme has become ILM NVQ level 5 Diploma in Management

The portfolios compiled by those undertaking the qualification have changed but are based on similar content and assessed the same way as pre-2011.

Our earlier programmes have the same value as ever. The old NVQ level 4 is automatically valued at level 5 on the new credits framework.

Introduction

OCSLD is committed to the use of the National Occupational Standards for management and leadership to support management and leadership development across the University.

National Occupational Standards for management and leadership

The National Occupational Standards for management and leadership define the outcomes, behaviours and knowledge required by managers and leaders for a range of levels and functions. The Core Management and Leadership Programme has been designed to develop the knowledge and skills underpinning the standards.

How can I engage with the Core Management and Leadership Programme?

There are three options:

Option 1: Leadership and Management workshops and a Management Qualification including personality profiling and 360° or Emotional Intelligence feedback and coaching

Engage in the workshops and complete a portfolio to receive a QCF National Vocational Qualification in Management (Level 3 or 5).  Portfolio building is supported by a coaching relationship with the NVQ assessor.  Option 1 also includes personality profiling using the MBTI and confidential 360° feedback (at Level 5) and emotional intelligence feedback (at Level 3) and coaching support.
