The Centre for Rowing Campaign

red quotesDuring my time at Oxford Brookes, I learnt the fundamentals to becoming a successful oarsman – pulling hard and having fun. By building a new boathouse this will provide the young men and women at Brookes now with a far better platform to develop those skills, and hopefully one day become the Olympians of the future.

With a new Centre for Rowing, Oxford Brookes can secure its place among the world's elite rowing clubs

Our haul of gold medals at Olympic and World Championship level stretches back more than a decade. Most recently, Brookes oarsmen won a gold and three silver medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and we aim to achieve even more triumphs with your help.

Expanding the squad’s modest boathouse on the River Thames near Wallingford will give our athletes the training facilities to match their ambitions and achievements. But reaching the target of £1million will only be possible with you – the university’s supporters and friends.

By backing the Centre for Rowing Campaign you have the chance to push Great Britain towards even more glory in London 2012 and add to Oxford Brookes’ tally of Olympic gold medals won by Ben Hunt-Davis, Fred Scarlett and Rowley Douglas at Sydney and Steve Williams at Athens and Beijing.

The venue for the London Olympics rowing regatta will be Dorney Lake at Windsor just downriver from our crew’s base. On what more perfect stage could Brookes’ athletes excel?
