The future Centre for Rowing

Our rowers have achieved remarkable international success despite the constraints of the present boathouse.

BoathouseWe want to build a training base fit for a squad of sportsmen and women of international promise. The expanded boathouse will bring a number of vital facilities under one roof by providing:

  • a gym for rowing machines and land-based exercises
  • warm-up and cool down areas necessary for intensive training sessions
  • larger changing rooms for male and female athletes
  • extra storage for specialist equipment.

For Oxford Brookes to maintain its position as one of five feeder squads to the British team, the boathouse must be modified to meet ever-growing training demands.

Additionally, our base lies alongside a superb stretch of the River Thames and to make best use of the water we need the correct facilities. Together with you we can build the foundations for more sporting successes.

red quotesThe building will give more space to train on the land, not just on the water. So much of the training now is in the gym. Rowing machines are where rowers develop the power so two out of three sessions are on land.

This is an opportunity to get the space and the capacity. They train a lot harder now. The sport is moving on.
