Rowing

sports of excellence: rowingOxford Brookes Rowing Club has been hugely successful in turning out winners in women’s and men’s rowing.

Seven Brookes rowers competed in the 2008 Olympics, winning one gold and three silver medals between them, with Brookes alumnus Steve Williams taking gold for the second time.

In London 2012 four Brookes rowers continued our rowing heritage with two silver and one bronze medal

The current men’s group contains eight Great Britain under-23 international athletes, and 15 athletes with Great Britain junior international experience. The club has had many wins at Henley Royal Regatta.

The Oxford Brookes University Boat Club has a boathouse at Cholsey, near Wallingford, and a land-based rowing facility at the Centre for Sport at Headington Campus. We have been able to invest in extra coaching and equipment to enhance the performance of potential Olympic athletes, thanks to funding from the Amateur Rowing Association’s High Performance Centre programme.
