Students are welcome to come to the Counselling Service for individual counselling. We also run groups/workshops. We provide advice if you are worried about someone else, want information on helping yourself, or want help outside of Brookes.
About counselling
Counselling is free, confidential, and available to all enrolled Brookes students. You can talk about personal or academic issues, whether large or small, and it's okay to be upset, anxious, angry or uncertain.
Making appointments
Counsellors are based at Headington Hill, Harcourt Hill, and Marston Road. To book an appointment, please complete our Registration Form and email it to ssrecpt@brookes.ac.uk. See Appointments if you prefer us to email you the Registration Form or to complete a paper copy.
Online counselling
We offer counselling online to those who prefer it or who would find getting to appointments difficult. Go to our Online Counselling pages to read more.
Groups/workshops
Have a look at our programme for this semester.
We regularly offer a therapeutic group, an assertiveness workshop, a procrastination workshop and a workshop for anxiety management.
Bibliotherapy
We have a list of recommended self-help books, all of which are available from the Brookes library
Contacting us
For general advice about someone else or other sources of help, leave a message with reception for a counsellor to contact you. Counsellors cannot discuss individuals but can suggest how to manage various situations.
