The counsellors

The Counselling Service is governed by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, the Ethical Guidelines for Researching Counselling and Psychotherapy, and the Professional Conduct Procedure. Copies of these documents are available on request from the Counselling Service. You can also find them on the BACP web site.

Marion Casey is Head of Counselling. She has a Master's Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling. Marion is a BACP Accredited Counsellor and has been a counsellor at Oxford Brookes since 1993. She has previous experience of counselling in the area of substance abuse and has also worked as a careers counsellor.

Sue Wilkinson has a Diploma in Counselling and is a BACP Accredited Counsellor. She has worked as a counsellor at Oxford Brookes since 1997. Sue has also been a counsellor in medical centre, a school guidance counsellor in Canada, tutor in further education, and a careers counsellor at Oxford Brookes.

Judi Brosnan is a BACP Accredited Counsellor and is on the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors (UKRC). She is a qualified psychoanalytic psychotherapist, registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and she has a Diploma in Online Counselling, awarded by Online Training for Counsellors ltd. Judi has been a counsellor at Oxford Brookes since 1998, and has previously worked as a psychotherapist within the NHS, as a university lecturer and in psychiatric nursing.

Annette Honeywell has a Master's Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling. She is a BACP Accredited Counsellor and is on the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors (UKRC). Annette has experience in brief therapy and a specialism in adoption. She is qualified in coaching and personal development - helping with goal setting and solution planning.

Hania Porucznik has a Masters degree in Psychodynamic Counselling, and is a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Hania has worked as a Counsellor in Higher Education and within the NHS. She also has experience working with groups in MIND and in a prison setting.

Jim Pye, the Mature Student Adviser, offers counselling to mature students. He has a Diploma in Counselling and is a qualified integrative psychotherapist, registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Sanya Arapovic is a Chartered Psychologist, accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Sanya provides Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to students. If you think that you could benefit from CBT, your counsellor can refer you to Sanya.

We also have a locum counsellor, Jan Snaith.

 

The Counselling Service offers placements to counsellors in training:

Matthew Barnard is completing his postgraduate training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, run by the Department for Continuing Development at the University of Oxford. The course is accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Matt has been undertaking a placement at Oxford Brookes since 2009.

Julia Markowski is in her final year of training to become a Counselling Psychologist, on a doctorate programme at Regent's College London that is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). She primarily uses an existential-phenomenological approach and has been on placement at the Oxford Brookes Counselling Service since September 2009. She also works in placements at the Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) and within an NHS counselling service.

Flora Winchester has completed a 4-year professional training in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute. This psychotherapy is based on the Mindfulness approach to therapy, and uses the humanistic/integrative approaches to counselling. Flora is now working towards a Masters degree and registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Analise Attard Analise has been on placement at Oxford Brookes since September 2011.

Michelle Ginnelly Michele has been on placement at Oxford Brookes since September 2011 and specialises in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

 

Psychiatric consultations
The Service has a psychiatric consultant, Dr Alan Ogilvie. Your counsellor can arrange an appointment with the consultant if that would be helpful.
