Doctors appointments on Campus (Semester time only)
To make an appointment with a Doctor, telephone 01865 483193 or call in and ask a receptionist who will offer you the next available appointment.

Wheatley/Harcourt Hill Students

If you are living at Wheatley, you should register with Dr. Anthony Harnden, Morland House, London Road, Wheatley,. 01865 872448.

If you are living at Harcourt Hill Campus you should register with Dr. Williamson, West Oxford Community Centre, Botley Road (new building opposite St Frideswide's Church) Phone number 01865 429993.

Nurses appointments on Campus

You can now book an appointment with the nurse to fit in with your own time tables. This is to help you avoid a wait so do book an appointment. Ten minute appointments are available from 8.30 - 10.00am and 3.00 - 5.30pm Monday to Friday during semester time.

  • Pill repeats need a 10 minute appointment
  • Vaccines need a 20 minute appointment
  • If a doctor suggests a nurses' appointment e.g. for a blood test just make a 10 minute appointment to avoid any unnecessary wait.
  • Free Condoms available from the Medical Centre. Ultra Strong condoms and lubrication also available from the nurses.

The following conditions will need a double appointment, i.e. 20 minutes - so just ask the receptionist for a double appointment when you book, and there will be no need to describe your condition.

  • Contraceptive advice with particular reference to method change
  • Cervical smears
  • Diet advice
  • Smoking advice
  • Travel planning - first appointment - no jabs - given lots of discussion about your requirements so plan ahead and come and discuss your travel programme as soon as you know what your doing and where your going.
  • Stress
  • Ear syringing

The Drop in nurse service is from 08.30 – 12.30.

Contraceptive Services

A comprehensive contraceptive service is available and includes the following:

  • An opportunity to discuss contraception and your individual needs.
  • All methods of contraception.
  • Safe and confidential Oral Emergency Contraception within 72 hours (the sooner the better within the 72 hours) or referral for insertion of an intrauterine device up to 5 days after unprotected sexual intercourse.
  • Pregnancy Testing - please bring a urine sample from your first urination of the morning (plus counselling, advice and referral for termination if needed).
  • Free Condoms for prevention of all Sexually Transmitted Infections - even if you are taking oral contraceptives please use a condom. Remember that if you vomit within 3 hours of taking your pill or suffer from a severe bout of diarrhoea you will not be contraceptively covered - use a condom for the next seven days.
  • Free Ultra strong condoms and lubrication are also available.
  • Family Planning: Make an appointment with a nurse Monday to Friday 8.30 - 9.50am and 3.00 - 4.50pm or see your GP.
  • For a first contraceptive consultation with this practice please see a GP. However, if you would like a repeat prescription of the same contraceptive pill you have been taking for some time, please make an appointment with a practice nurse.
