Registration and admissions procedure
To register for the nursery, the child's parent or guardian needs to complete an application form.
Application to the nursery is open to all staff and students of Oxford Brookes University. In addition, the 2 - 5's room is open to external applicants. Parents are required to book a minimum of 4 sessions per week for a minimum of a semester.
Places are allocated on a first-come, first served basis. If a place is not available immediately the childs name will be placed on the appropriate waiting list.
Allocation of places for the following semester/academic year will normally take place in the previous semester. Normally existing nursery users will have priority on any additional spaces before they are offered to children on the waiting list.
Special needs
The nursery welcomes all children, irrespective of individual differences. We will work to create an environment which meets the needs of each child. We will consider any child and we will consider any additional funding and/or training necessary to meet special needs of children of the University staff and students.
Introductory visits
All children starting nursery have a settling-in period which comprises a series of visits, although the pattern may vary with the individual needs of children and parents.
- Parent/guardian to meet with the Nursery Manager to fill out registration forms, look around the nursery and arrange a further visit etc and to discuss any concerns or problems relating to their child. Parent/Guardian and child to stay and play in the nursery.
- Parent/guardian to visit with child and settle him/her in the Nursery with a member of staff, after a while leaving him/her to play for approximately 2 hours.
- Child to spend a half day session prior to commencement of sessions as on original booking.
