Nursery opening times and fees

The nursery is open Monday to Friday and closes for the last two weeks in August and for the period between Christmas and New Year (including Christmas Eve) plus bank holidays and concessionary days as set by the University. There are also three closure days during the year for staff training.

Session times

  • Full day 8.30 am to 5.25 pm
  • Morning 8.30 am to 1.00 pm
  • Afternoon 1.00 pm to 5.25 pm
  • Extended session 8 am to 8.30am/5.25pm to 5.55pm

Please note that these must be booked in advance.

The nursery also offers a limited number of places between 8.00 - 8.30 am and 5.25 - 5.55 pm.

Parents will be expected to collect children no later than the end of their booked period of time. If parents are persistently late without good cause in collecting their children, then the nursery may be unable to continue to offer a place.

Student parents may be eligible for assistance from the University's Financial Aid Committee. Awards are based on a means-tested application system. Details are available from the Financial Aid Office tel: 01865 84726/27/28.

Staff fees

  • Full day £44.50
  • Morning session £23.75
  • Afternoon session £21.75
  • Extended session £3.00 per half hour

Staff can apply to join the university’s tax saving scheme or take advantage of the government’s voucher scheme (please ask for details).

External fees

The Nursery chef freshly prepares a fully cooked lunch and light snacks each day in the nursery kitchen. This is inclusive of the daily rate. Extra time will be charged if your child arrives before their session starts or is left after their session finishes at the rate of £10.00 per 30 minutes or part thereof.

A non-refundable registration fee of £100.00 will be charged to secure any nursery place.

Please note also that:

  • Fees are payable either monthly or termly in advance.
  • All cheques should be made payable to Oxford Brookes University.
  • All sessions booked must be paid for irrespective of whether your child uses them. No refunds can be made for periods of absence.
  • Bookings must be made for the whole University semester.
  • The nusery is registered with Oxfordshire County Council and can claim nursery grants for up to 15 hours per week (for 38 weeks of the year) from the term after children turn 3 years old. Please speak to the Nursery Manager for more details.
