Student support arrangements in faculties

As well as an Academic Adviser for each undergraduate, each faculty now has at least one person in a new role called a Student Support Co-ordinator.

The provision of Student Support Co-ordinators in each faculty is, broadly speaking, an extension of the arrangement that has been in place in Social Sciences and Law for some time.

This means that somebody is available to you on a drop-in basis for a significant part of each week during the academic year to provide a 'first response' to a whole range of concerns and questions.

If you are studying subjects in two faculties, then you can make your own choice about which Student Support Co-ordinator you go to.

The precise responsibilities of Academic Advisers and Student Support Co-ordinators may vary a little from faculty to faculty, but this should be explained to new students during the field meetings on the Thursday of week 0.

However, this may mean that there is some uncertainty at the beginning of this new arrangement, before staff and students become more familiar with the new roles and the overall ‘shape’ of student support in each faculty.
