We live, learn and work in a busy, changing world. To help develop our understanding and skills in new directions, Oxford Brookes University is offering open online courses in a range of different subjects.
All of Brookes’ Open Online Courses are free to study. Some courses are accredited and lead to higher education certificates, which provides accreditation and does incur fees. Accreditation is optional, though, and everyone can join in for free without doing the assessment.
Brookes’ Open Online Courses are more than tasters or samples. They are short courses of four to six weeks duration. You should engage with them for about two to three hours a day, for two or three days a week (up to about 10 hours a week).
Like all our courses, they are:
Sustained engagement with ideas and people
Founded on group and individual activity
Mapped to UK Higher Education credit frameworks
Delivered using a variety of different teaching methods, such as live and pre-recorded academic multimedia (audio, video, virtual classrooms, social networks), reading and discussion.
The tradition of online learning at Oxford Brookes University is grounded in dialogue. Brookes’ Open Online Courses continue this tradition and enable both tutor-student interaction and student-student interaction, as well as interaction with learning content.
