    Undergraduate Modular Programme (UMP)

For students on the Undergraduate Modular Programme (UMP), the academic year is split into two semesters. Each semester consists of a teaching period followed by examinations.

The enrolment and induction week in Semester 1 is for first year students only. Students on the UMP must:

    • ensure they are available for all periods marked as teaching and examinations
    • be ready to be available during re-sit examination periods.

Students on other programmes (outside of the UMP, including taught postgraduate programmes) may have similar commitments to those described in these calendars. You should contact your faculty for more information, including the confirmed schedule of examinations for your programme.

Courses that have a significant practice component may fall outside of normal semester dates.

    Postgraduate Taught (PGT)

For students on Postgraduate Taught Programmes, the teaching element of the academic year is split into two semesters with the dissertation module undertaken during the summer semester. Semesters 1 and 2 consist of a teaching period followed by examinations.

The enrolment and induction is carried out in the first week of Semester 1 for September starters and where appropriate the first week of Semester 2 for January starters. Students must:

    • ensure they are available for all periods marked as teaching and examinations
    • be ready to be available during re-sit examination periods.

Students who are on courses that have a significant practice component which falls outside of normal semester dates, or who require more information, including the confirmed schedule of examinations for your programme, should contact your faculty for more information.
