Living in halls

In recent years Brookes has invested heavily into the provision of student residences. This means that more than half of our hall accommodation is less than 10 years old, providing single study-bedrooms, many en suite, and all with internet access.
Safe and Secure
In halls you can be sure of a supportive and safe environment. All halls of residence have an on-site hall manager and hall supervisors to help and advise during the day, along with support available on-site throughout the night. Hall staff are experienced in making people feel at home and during the first weeks of semester part of their role is to arrange social activities to help you get to know those living in your hall. It is often those initial friendships you make that stay with you throughout your time at university, and long after you've left.
Study-bedrooms
Your bedroom will be furnished with a bed-base and mattress, mattress protector, desk and desk chair, reading lamp, wardrobe and curtains. There are pinboards for posters, so you can personalise your space. Make sure to check with hall management if you want to bring additional furniture for your room. Health and Safety regulations and the University are very strict about what you can bring. Further details on what to bring, for international and EU students, are included in the International Pre-Arrival Guide.
Examples of typical study-bedrooms can be viewed on our 360 degree photograph page.
Study bedrooms are all networked so you can gain access to the internet, intranet, email and the directories where course materials are stored.
Brookes Bus Pass
All students who live in halls are provided with a bus pass as part of the halls package.
Once you have a confirmed offer of a hall place please make your bus application by clicking on this link and following the instructions.
Student Insurance
All students who live in halls are provided with block insurance during their time in halls. This is provided by Endsleigh Insurance and more information can be found on their website. There will be representatives at Brookes during freshers week who can assist you if you wish to add additional insurance to the basic. The complete Policy information can be located here. There are also top up options available here.
Shared facilities
All of the halls have shared laundry facilities with coin-operated machines. Self-catered halls have shared kitchens where you can cook and eat your own meals. Catered halls, where meals are provided in shared dining areas, also have small kitchenettes for making snacks.
It's also easy to pay your accommodation fees, which include utility costs and room insurance as well as rent. We offer three different payment methods to suit your needs. See our accommodation fees page for more information.
