Applying for halls
Once you have accepted an offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate course from the University, you will be sent an accommodation letter which contains a password that will enable you to apply online for halls of residence. These are being sent by post from the Admissions Office in batches. International students will use the International Pre-arrival Guide, which provides detailed information about visas and immigration and the application deadlines.

For those students who are arriving in January 2013 to commence a full-time undergraduate or post-graduate course, please contact us in November 2012, when we will be able to provide more information about availability and will be able to start taking applications.
The deadlines for applications are the 2nd July 2012 and the 27th August 2012.

Exceptions to the Allocation Policy
Exception to the Allocation Policy are shown below:
- Students with certain disabilities
- Students who will be under the age of 18 on 30 September 2012
If you fit either of the categories above you will be offered a room in one of the hall types of your choice. If your place at the University is conditional at the time of the July allocation, your hall application will be entered into the allocation process that takes place towards the end of August and will be subject to the allocation criteria set out in the Allocation Policy.
Medical Conditions
If you wish to have a medical condition taken into account for hall allocation purposes you must supply the following with your paper application (do not use the on-line process). Please email medicalhallapplications@brookes.ac.uk to request a form.
- A letter confirming your condition written in English from a certified medical practitioner; it is insufficient for this letter to simply state your condition. It must also support your need to be accommodated in any or a specific type of residence. If you do not provide this information with your initial application it will not be possible to consider any information supplied at a later date. If you are unsure please call or email us at the Accommodation Office.
Family Accommodation and Studio Flats
There are a limited number of two bedroom self contained flats in Clive Booth Student Village where we can take applications from a couples or individuals with a child. These cost £224.00 per week and include bills, internet, bus pass and basic insurance.
There are studio flats at Westminster Hall which are available to couples or individual (no children). They are a self-contained flat with bedroom where there is a 4ft double bed, lounge area, kitchenette and bathroom. These cost £180 per week. Price includes bills, internet, bus pass and basic insurance. The standard contract length is for a 38 week contract, but there are now a limited number of 50 week contracts available at Westminster Hall Studios.
There are also studio flats at Dorset House for individuals which cost £180 for a 50 week contract. Please refer to Dorset House website for their conditions and to apply.

Please note that the no car policy still applies to these options and offers will only be made once you have an unconditional offer.
Healthcare Students
Please be aware some Nursing courses have different semester dates to other programmes of study and therefore require extended contract lengths. These courses are shown below:
- Adult Nursing Degree and Diploma
- Childrens Nursing Degree (pre-registration only)
- Mental Health Nursing Degree (pre-registration only) and Diploma
- Midwifery (pre-registration only)
The recommended halls are shown below and will be updated with price and contract length for your course once known.
- Crescent Hall - Contract from 15th September 2012 to the 18th July 2013 at a cost of £4261.27.
- Paul Kent Hall - Contract from 15th September 2012 to the 18th July 2013 at a cost of £5359.81.
- Alternatively you may prefer Cheney Student Village from Saturday 15 September 2012 to the 30 August 2013 at a cost of £6321.50 plus £200 deposit.
The above arrangements are not intended for those Nursing students based at Swindon.
Any students who require the use of a car for placements such as Paramedic / Nursing students may wish to consider Shared Housing as an option. You can apply as a group or individual. If you choose to live in halls keeping or using a car within Oxford city is NOT permitted. Please contact Shared Housing on 01865 484617.
Art Foundation Students
Please be aware the Art Foundation course has different semester dates to other courses and therefore extended contract lengths. The recommended halls and contract lengths are shown below.
- Crescent Hall - Contract from 1st September 2012 until 13th June 2013 at a cost of £3968.83.
- Paul Kent Hall - Contract from 1st September 2012 until 13th June 2013 at a cost of £4991.98.
- You may also wish to consider our Parternship Halls at Slade Park and Dorset House which offer 42 week contracts.
You may also wish to consider taking a room in Oxford Brookes University Shared Housing. These contracts begin on Saturday 3 September 2012.
PGCE and BA Primary Students
Please be aware that the PGCE and BA Primary course have different semester dates to other courses and provision in hall for these different dates is ONLY made at Westminster Hall. The extended contract lengths and costs are shown below.
- BA Primary - Contract from 15th September 2012 to 28th June 2013 at a cost of £5717.96.
- PGCE Primary - Contract from 1st September 2012 to 5th July 2013 at a cost of £6137.81
- PGCE Secondary (one year) - Contract from 8th September 2012 to 27th June 2013 at a cost of £5837.91
- PGCE Secondary (two year ) - to be confirmed.
- PGCE Post Compulsory - Contract from 15th September 2012 to 27th June 2013 at a cost of £5697.96
LPC and GDL Students (Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Courses)
Please be aware the LPC and GDL courses have different semester dates to other courses and therefore extended contract lengths. The recommended halls are shown below and will be updated with price and contract length for your course once known.
- Crescent Hall - Contract from 15th September 2012 to 17th June 2013 at a cost of £3829.57
- Paul Kent Hall - Contract from 15th September 2012 to 17th June 2013 at a cost of £4816.82
- Alternatively you may prefer Clive Booth Hall Postgraduate Centre En suite (50 weeks) from Saturday 15 September 2012 to 30 August 2013 at a cost of £7100.00
