Accepting your offer
Application decisions
There are three decisions which could be made on your application:
- unconditional offer - you have been made an offer for the course and there are no conditions to meet.
- conditional offer - you have qualifications pending. An offer of this kind is likely to state the level you must achieve in order to meet the requirements.
- unsuccessful - the University has been unable to make you an offer for the course.
Accepting UCAS applications
Once all the universities you applied to have made their decisions, UCAS will ask you to choose the offer you wish to accept as your firm choice and the offer you prefer as your insurance choice. See UCAS for more information on making these choices.
You will have an individual deadline set by UCAS by which time you must make of your decision. It’s important that you respond by the deadline, otherwise your offers will be declined automatically by UCAS, in which case you will have to re-apply through the Clearing system in August and the course you have chosen may not have vacancies.
We obviously hope you will make Oxford Brookes your firm choice, and if you need any further information to help in making your decision please contact us.
Confirming Decisions
If you are holding a conditional offer from us, then as soon as we receive your exam results and know that you have met our conditions, we will confirm your place via UCAS. A/AS-level and vocational A/AS-level results are sent directly to us. If you are taking different examinations, you will need to send copies of your results to the Admissions Office as soon as you have them.
You are expected to have met all conditions of entry before 31 August 2011. If you don't quite get the grades you need, your application will undergo further consideration before a decision is made, in some cases we may still be able to offer you a place.
Direct application offers
Applicants who have been made an offer of a place will have been sent an offer letter, the reply slip on this letter must be completed and returned to the Admissions Office in order to accept your offer.
Conditional offers
If your offer was conditional, you should send your results to the Admissions Office as soon as you have them. You will then be sent an unconditional offer letter which will have a reply slip for your final acceptance of your place. If you don't quite get the grades you need, you application will undergo further consideration before a decision is made, in some cases we may still be able to offer you a place.
Postgraduate taught course offers
Conditional offers
If your offer is conditional for a postgraduate taught course, you should send your results directly to the school as soon as you have them. Please contact the school to see if the University has been able to confirm your offer of a place.
What happens next?
Once you have accepted your offer, the University will begin sending you information to prepare you for the start of your course. This may include:
- information on applying for accommodation (from late March)
- an information pack about arrival and university induction, enrolment week, fee payment and necessary forms (from mid August)
- details of your subject or academic school
- general university information
- documentation for courses requiring Criminal Records Bureau, Medical or Rehabilitation clearance
- for Nursing, Occupational Therapy & Physiotherapy courses the Admissions Office will inform the NHS Student Grants Unit of your offer. They will in turn send you an application form to apply for the NHS Bursary.
