Application process

Application process

You can apply to UCAS up to a year before the start of the course.

  1. Apply on the UCAS website beginning 1 September.
  2. UCAS sends copies of your application form to each of the institutions that you have listed. Each university will decide whether to make you an offer. They may ask you to achieve certain exam results. Decisions will be sent to UCAS.
  3. UCAS will forward the responses from the universities to you or you can check online using UCAS Track.
  4. UCAS will ask you to decide which two offers, if any, you want to hold while you wait for your results. You must respond to UCAS with your decision and not directly to the universities.
  5. If you meet the conditions of your offer, the institution will confirm your place
  6. If you do not meet the conditions, but your results are acceptable and places are available they may also confirm your place.
  7. If you do not have a place at this stage (August) you should enter into clearing.

Institution and course codes

On your application form you will need to enter the institution code for Oxford Brookes which is OXFD 066. We have no separate campus code. You will also need to state the individual course code. Codes for courses can be found on the individual course entries. Alternatively you can check codes on the UCAS website.

Personal information and references

We put a lot of emphasis on the further personal information you provide. It is particularly useful if you can relate your choice of subject(s) to your interests and aspirations and demonstrate your understanding of the course and its structure. We also find it helpful if referees indicate the reasons for their statements. For example, are predicted grades based on the actual results at the end of your first year of sixth-form study? How have your skills been evaluated? Are there any other factors that suggest your performance is not a satisfactory guide to your potential?

Deadlines

Applications can be made through UCAS until the 15 January deadline, but it's much better to get your application in earlier. In practice, late applications will be accepted by UCAS until 30 June 2012, but we will only consider them at our discretion. International student (non-EU) applications will be accepted until 30 June 2012. Please see the UCAS website for up-to-date application deadlines.

Deferred entry (gap year)

If you wish to defer entry for a year before starting your course, you can apply one year in advance, but you should include the year you wish to start on the UCAS form. Apart from fine art courses, we are normally quite happy to consider applicants for deferred entry if you give brief information about your reasons. You will need to meet all other conditions by 31 August of the academic year in which you apply.
