Executive MBA

With the Executive MBA programme you can continue in your existing employment whilst studying through participation in weekend workshops. Part-time study enables you to relate theory to practice continuously and return to workshops to share your experiences with fellow students.

Your consultancy project can be tailor-made to meet the needs of an employer, without compromising the academic requirements and learning outcomes of the programme.

The MBA begins with an induction programme that familiarises you with the learning environment and library facilities. It enables you to interact with other students and tutors. It facilitates understanding of the assessment requirements and introduces you to case study analysis and to the feedback and support available to you during the MBA. This induction prepares you to make the most of the learning opportunities afforded by the MBA.

During the programme you will have an opportunity to participate in an overseas workshop and take an elective with one of our partner institutions overseas.

As an Executive MBA student you will be supported by your own Personal Coach who will help you to focus on an area you wish to develop. Many of our Executive MBA students choose to focus on leadership and or career development issues, however it is up to you to determine an agenda that meets your personal needs.

Your MBA gives you the opportunity to develop an area of interest by combining your elective choices with a dissertation or consultancy project in an appropriate field of study. Electives are reviewed each year and may run at different times. It is therefore advisable to check the timings with the course administrator at the time of application.

The elective choices currently offered are in the following areas:

• Hospitality and tourism management

• Marketing
• Publishing
• Real estate
• Finance.

N.B. Please note that not all elective choices run at the weekends. Some are studied during a slot during the week with full time students.

Entry requirements

You will normally need:

• a minimum of three years’ relevant managerial or professional experience, together with a good degree (or GPA equivalent); or
• a relevant postgraduate/post-experience qualification from a recognised university or college; or
• a professional qualification that is regarded as equivalent to a degree, from an approved and recognised body.

Two written references (normally one academic) are also required. 

It is possible to enter this programme on the basis of managerial experience rather than as a graduate. We normally seek a minimum of seven years’ relevant managerial or professional experience.

Scholarships and funding

Oxford Brookes University Business School is delighted to offer three scholarships of £3,000 for its Executive MBA programme. This AMBA accredited programme, taught in convenient weekend study blocks, is exceedingly popular with students. The school is introducing three scholarships of £3,000 for students commencing study in September 2011.

Three students, who apply for the scholarship and meet the criteria set out, will each be awarded a £3,000 scholarship. The current tuition fees for the programme are £18,130. Please contact the programme administration team for more information and to apply.
