Real world teaching
We know that our students will help shape the world outside Brookes.
That's why our courses include real-life skills, often with built-in work placements, projects, teamwork and work to develop your leadership skills. Many of our teaching staff are at the forefront of their subjects and use their strong backgrounds in industry and business to give you both an insight into the world of work and a thorough academic grounding.
You'll be encouraged to think for yourself and take responsibility for your own learning, just as you might be asked to when you start a new job or take on voluntary work. But we'll support you to develop skills like team-working, communication, and project management.

Work placements
Doing a real job, applying your knowledge and meeting new people make work placements rewarding, fun and give you a realistic perspective on career options.
More than 60 of our courses currently offer compulsory or optional work placements, usually lasting six or 12 months. All of the posts are supervised and most are paid. Our Placement officers can provide support both arranging your work experience and while you are working.
In Oxford, you will be able to take advantage of a rich variety of business. Few other regions can rival the city's wealth of placement opportunities. So even if your course does not offer a work placement module, there are still many opportunities to gain real workplace experience.
