Research excellence
Here at Brookes we lead in the field by integrating research into undergraduate as well as postgraduate study.
Investing significant amounts in staff and facilities, we aim to ensure that our research contributions to education, business, industry, and to wider society are among the very best. Our academics work in a wide range of subject areas, from health and nutrition to environmental sustainability, with real-world applications.
Over 75% of research at Brookes has been internationally recognised in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (the latest official rankings of UK university research), with a broad range of subjects in the arts, sciences, health, law and education, judged world-leading.
Our research community
Research lies at the heart of academic life and the university’s strong culture of multidisciplinary collaboration provides a stimulating research environment where flexibility and innovation thrive. Several research institutes and centres, such as the Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development, the Centre for Diversity Policy Research, and the Centre for Health, Medicine and Society: Past and Present, are based here.
We believe our research expertise should underpin all our teaching, and Brookes, in line with its innovative approach to teaching and learning, is currently carrying out two major government research projects in this area.
