Medical and dental care
Oxford Brookes has both a medical centre and dental practice on the Headington Campus when, and if, you need them.
Medical centre
The university's medical centre is based on Headington Campus and is staffed by doctors and practice nurses as well as a health visitor. The centre offers health advice for students travelling overseas and on field trips. It also runs initiatives dealing with issues such as eating disorders and cancer awareness.
You can make an appointment or you can attend a drop-in clinic with the nurse between 10.30am and 2.30pm Monday to Friday.
Students based at Wheatley and Harcourt Hill register with one of the local practices linked to those campuses.
Dental care
Studental is a fully equipped dental practice located on the Headington Campus and provides NHS dental care to Brookes students and staff.
The practice has three dentists and aims to provide the best quality of dental care available on the NHS in a friendly and modern environment.
Osteopathic clinics
The osteopathy clinics at Mill Court, Oxford and Ferndale, Swindon are part of our Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. They are the first osteopathic teaching clinics in the country accredited and based within a university. The clinics provide a full range of osteopathic treatments and also provide comprehensive treatment options for sports injuries and follow up care. Concessional rates are available to Brookes’ staff, students and alumni.
International students
International students will be entitled to receive general medical care and dental treatment under Britain's National Health Service (NHS) once they register with a UK doctor and dental practice. This service includes free visits to the doctor, and paying a standard charge for prescription items, dental treatment, eye tests and glasses.
International students studying for less than six months will be liable to pay for hospital treatment unless their country has a reciprocal agreement with the UK. We strongly advise all International students who are not eligible for NHS coverage to obtain medical insurance.
